The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role with regular in-office attendance at Baker Tilly US; specific location to be discussed with talent acquisition. Baker Tilly is a leading advisory, tax, and assurance firm, providing clients with a genuine coast-to-coast and global advantage. As a Tax Associate, you will contribute to tax engagements by preparing returns, workpapers, and calculations, supporting clients and experienced professionals while building essential technical and client service skills. This role is crucial for delivering accurate, timely, and well-documented tax work for a range of clients.

• Mission: To contribute to tax engagements by accurately preparing returns, workpapers, calculations, and related client deliverables, supporting both clients and senior professionals.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), firm-approved tax preparation, research, workflow, document management, data, and collaboration technologies, including AI-enabled tools.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support tax engagements by developing an understanding of clients’ businesses, industries, transactions, and tax needs.
• Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns, workpapers, calculations, supporting schedules, and related client deliverables.
• Analyze client financial and tax information, identify issues requiring follow-up, and support tax planning, estimates, extensions, notices, and research.
• Collaborate with engagement team members and clients to obtain information, resolve routine questions, and maintain well-supported documentation.
• Complete assigned work accurately and on time, communicating progress, questions, and potential issues promptly.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business discipline from an accredited institution. Candidates must meet educational requirements to obtain a CPA license upon hire in the state of employment or a state with reciprocity.
• Experience: This role is designed for candidates with 0–1 year of relevant professional experience; no prior professional experience is required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Skills: Foundational accounting knowledge relevant to assigned work; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to conduct research, analyze information, and document findings clearly and accurately; clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; organization, time management, attention to detail, and reliability in meeting deadlines.
• Bonus: Previous internship, academic, leadership, volunteer, customer service, or other relevant experience is preferred. Curiosity, openness, and experience with emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, and the ability to use them responsibly to support learning, efficiency, and problem solving are valued.
