Tax Intern – Summer 2027 | Elevance Health

The Tone:
This is an internship at Elevance Health, located in Indianapolis, IN. Elevance Health is a Fortune 25 health company dedicated to improving lives and communities by making healthcare simpler. This role offers the opportunity to support the Tax department, gaining practical experience in federal and state income tax, sales/use tax, property tax, and state premium (insurance) tax. The intern will make an impact by contributing to tax compliance, accounting, audit defense, and special projects.

• Mission: Support the Tax department by assisting with federal and state income tax compliance, tax accounting, examination/audit defense, and special projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Perform in-depth data analysis and tax modeling while assisting with process improvement initiatives.
• Tax Research: Research and execute analysis of tax law across federal, state, and/or international jurisdictions.
• Audit Support: Support ongoing state and/or federal state tax audits by providing necessary assistance.
• Tax Filings: Prepare selected tax filings and analyze tax developments for their application to business units.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a tax team to deliver outstanding results.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a BA/BS degree program in Accounting, Finance, or another related degree.
• Experience: Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship program from May 17th, 2027 – August 6th, 2027.
• Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, and Access.
• Bonus: An interest in pursuing a career in the field of taxation, with a CPA path preferred.
