2027 Engineering Leadership Development Program | Gerdau North America

The Tone:
This is a leadership development program at Gerdau North America, located in Petersburg, VA, with required travel across the US and Canada. Gerdau is a major steel manufacturing company operating in 10 countries with over 30,000 employees. The North American divisions produce long and special steel products, contributing to the economy through recycling operations and mills that utilize efficient electric arc furnace (EAF) technology for sustainable steel production. This G.Future program is designed to invest in junior talent and develop future managerial and technical leaders for the company through an intensive 12-month program.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Problem Solving: Solve large and small-scale problems by creating mechanical components/assembly drawings, proposing business methods, and optimizing product output to improve production standards.
• Strategic Management: Manage the strategic implementation for overall business goals within operational departments like the Melt Shop or Rolling Mill.
• Mentorship Engagement: Participate in a unique mentorship program with a seasoned professional to facilitate integration with Gerdau, understand its values, and streamline training.
• Business Acumen: Gain in-depth knowledge of the business from beginning to end by visiting customers and suppliers.
• Holistic Industry View: Acquire a comprehensive view and acumen of the industry by working with each level of Gerdau North America and traveling to various destinations throughout the US and Canada.
• Skill Development: Develop a robust set of managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills through on-the-job learning, classroom training, coaching, and ongoing mentorship.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Automation, Material Sciences/Metallurgy, or other applicable degrees. Must be a graduate from within the past 3 years or expected to graduate by Summer 2027.
• Experience: A maximum of 3 years full-time work experience.
• Skills: Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5), strong learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously, demonstrated leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities, and ability to travel to various locations within the United States and Canada during the program.
• Bonus: Preferred GPA 3.0 or above, and degree-related internship experience.
