Project Manager – Payroll | International Business Machines

The Tone:
This role is for a Project Manager within IBM Consulting, supporting long-term client relationships and global collaboration. You will contribute to clients’ hybrid cloud and AI journeys by providing delivery and project support for HR BPO operations, including Talent Acquisition, HR, and Payroll services. This position is crucial for ensuring initiatives are executed effectively, risks are identified, and stakeholders remain informed throughout project lifecycles.

• Mission: To support small to medium-scale initiatives by coordinating, tracking, reporting, and driving continuous improvement to ensure effective execution and informed stakeholders.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Planning: Develop, maintain, and manage project charters and project plans for assigned initiatives.
• Activity Coordination: Coordinate project activities from initiation through completion, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
• Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare and deliver project status updates and progress reports to leadership and stakeholders.
• Risk Management: Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Communication Facilitation: Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, operational teams, and leadership.
• Process Improvement: Review business processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiencies.
• Continuous Improvement Support: Support the design and implementation of continuous improvement and innovation projects for HR BPO delivery operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level career with formal project management learning or training, focused on supporting HR BPO operations. Preferred education is a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of basic to intermediate project management experience, and minimum 1 year of experience in Talent Acquisition, HR, or Payroll BPO environments. Experience supporting process improvement or operational efficiency initiatives is also required.
• Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and fluency in English.
• Bonus: Experience supporting HR or Payroll service delivery operations, IBM Agile Explorer certification or higher, IBM Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner certification or higher, familiarity with IBM Project Management Best Practices (PMG 136G, PMG 137G), experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Monday.com or Mural, and experience supporting client-facing initiatives.
