Spring 2027 Fund Admin Account Oversight Co-op (January-June) | MFS Investment Management
The Tone:
This is a full-time Co-op position at MFS Investment Management, operating within a hybrid work environment with an onsite component, likely based in Boston, MA. The co-op runs for six months, specifically from January 13th to June 25th, 2027. MFS is a well-established global investment management firm, recognized for inventing the mutual fund in 1924, and it continues to focus on creating long-term value responsibly for its clients. This role is crucial as it supports the foundational financial operations of fund administration, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in processes that underpin the trust and success of millions of individuals and institutions relying on MFS for their financial future. The Co-op experience is designed to provide meaningful work, enhancing participants’ knowledge of investing, the mutual fund industry, employee engagement, and a deep understanding of fund treasury within an asset manager.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Payment Coordination: Coordinate and instruct payment details to external vendors to ensure all payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Financial Metric Preparation: Prepare and continuously monitor critical financial metrics such as asset-based fees, expense caps, and fund expense ratios, alongside managing expense budgets.
• Distribution Rate Worksheets: Develop and meticulously prepare distribution rate worksheets, ensuring they are ready for thorough review by the Accounting Manager.
• Dividend Rate Communication: Facilitate and confirm that all communications regarding dividend rates, including Press Releases and Daily Rate Memos, are disseminated promptly and efficiently.
• Capstock Activity Monitoring: Daily monitor all As-of Capstock activity and proactively communicate any required adjustments or changes to the custodian bank for resolution.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently an undergraduate student working towards a Bachelor’s degree, with a strong preference for a concentration in accounting or another related financial discipline.
• Experience: Must be currently enrolled in a co-op program through their college or university, fulfilling the program’s specific requirements.
• Skills: Possesses good analytical capabilities, strong organizational skills, and effective written and verbal communication abilities. Familiarity with MS Excel is also required.
• Bonus: Prior experience gained in a diverse professional environment where attention to production, adherence to controls, and meeting strict deadlines were essential.
