Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

The Tone:

• Mission: To learn and contribute to the management of driver operations, ensuring safe and timely freight movement, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop operational expertise: Learn to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe and timely freight movement, load assignment, and best-in-class customer service.
• Foster key relationships: Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and external carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Optimize fleet performance: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, making recommendations for continuous improvement, and creating customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Execute administrative tasks: Perform various administrative duties including payroll, management of the Net-Revenue budget, driver counseling, accident reviews, and creating operational or financial reports.
• Ensure safety and compliance: Learn to maintain the company’s safety culture, including daily driver safety messages, regular briefings and training, and enforcing company policies to ensure DOT compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Experience: Entry-level experience; alternatively, a High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
• Skills: Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed; willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team; ability to anticipate, recognize, and effectively deal with conflicts; ability to accurately analyze situations and make productive decisions; adaptability to changing environments; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers; ability to meet or exceed team/driver needs and expectations; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas; ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve organizational, operational, or process problems.
