Asset Protection Security Specialist | Kroger

What You’ll Actually Do
• Loss Prevention & Reduction: Proactively prevent and reduce financial losses stemming from issues like bad debt, cash over/short discrepancies, and civil liabilities, directly impacting shrink and improving overall profit margins.
• Theft Deterrence & Detection: Implement strategies to detect, deter, and, when necessary, detain external theft suspects, as well as actively monitor and address high-shrink areas within store locations.
• Incident Reporting & Policy Adherence: Accurately report all incidents to the asset protection manager and diligently verify consistent compliance with established corporate policies and procedures.
• Customer Service & Training: Model and encourage excellent customer service behaviors, support positive customer and associate relations through effective communication and training initiatives, and actively promote company-wide programs.
• Investigative Support & Testimony: Provide credible court testimony as required, contributing to legal proceedings, and utilize strong analytical skills to identify specific areas susceptible to high theft rates.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age (21 years of age in Alaska) and have foundational familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes, alongside knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
• Experience: Previous experience in retail security or law enforcement is required, demonstrating practical exposure to security protocols and loss prevention strategies.
• Skills: Demonstrate proficient Microsoft Office skills, an ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality, and strong organizational skills for prioritizing tasks and projects. This role also requires the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, and passing a drug test.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a demonstrated commitment to continuing education is preferred.
