The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mantrose Group, a world leader in specialty coatings and functional blends for the food and pharmaceutical industries, located in Elgin, Illinois, USA. Founded over 100 years ago, Mantrose Group is a unit of RPM International Inc., a specialty coatings company. This Director of Quality Assurance position is critical to ensuring all Mantrose Group products, including Functional Systems, VerdeCoat, Mantrose-Haeuser Food Coatings, and NatureSeal Food Protection, consistently meet stringent quality, compliance, and certification standards. The role is pivotal in upholding the company’s commitment to quality across all operations and product lines.

• Team: Oversees the Compliance Manager, Lab Lead, QA technicians, and Document Management team.
• Mission: To ensure all Mantrose Group products consistently adhere to quality assurance programs, compliance standards, and certification requirements through effective management of QA processes, documentation, and personnel across all locations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Quality Program Leadership: Manage and continuously improve the SQF quality program, including all SOP updates, reviews, and leading the SQF audit process across manufacturing locations.
• Certification and Compliance: Oversee adherence to and manage all governing agency certifications and audits, such as Kosher, Organic, Halal, USDA, and FDA Biodegradable standards.
• Team and Document Management: Lead, onboard, and manage the Compliance Manager, Lab Lead, QA technicians, and the document management team, ensuring robust control of all QA documentation and records.
• Auditing and Corrective Actions: Coordinate and perform customer and supplier audits annually, managing all Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) across Mantrose Group manufacturing locations.
• System Implementation & Reporting: Lead the implementation and training for D365 and Product Vision systems, compile month-end reporting for the QA department, and document all reportable events in the RPM portal.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Four-year degree in Food Science or 5-10 years of equivalent experience in Quality Assurance, with a strong background in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of previous work experience in Quality Assurance, preferably within the Food Manufacturing Industry, including proven experience managing a QA team of various skill levels and backgrounds.
• Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), critical decision-making abilities, and excellent communication skills.
