What You’ll Actually Do
• Auditing Fieldwork: Perform essential fieldwork procedures in accounting and auditing engagements, which includes conducting client inquiries, performing analytical reviews, and executing testing protocols.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare comprehensive financial statements for a variety of entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
• Income Tax Return Filing: Prepare federal and state income tax returns for a diverse client portfolio, encompassing corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, trusts, estates, and non-profit organizations.
• Governmental Compliance: Prepare any other necessary governmental filings to ensure clients meet their regulatory obligations.
• Core Bookkeeping & Reconciliation: Perform fundamental accounting functions, including detailed bookkeeping and account reconciliations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or a closely related degree. Fulfillment of 150 relevant credit hours, as required for the CPA Exam, is also a prerequisite.
• Experience: This role requires basic knowledge of accounting concepts and a clear commitment to being on the CPA career track.
• Skills: Proficient computer skills, including efficient knowledge of Excel, are essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed for internal teams and client interactions. The ability to be organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and to excel in a deadline-driven environment is crucial, alongside demonstrating integrity in handling confidential information and a strong desire to learn.
• Bonus: A Master of Science in Taxation (MST), Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), or other industry-related graduate degree is preferred. Significant personal effort towards obtaining a CPA certificate is also expected as part of the career development for this position.
