Staff Accountant | Kimco Staffing Services, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time, non-exempt Staff Accountant role based in Santa Ana, CA, offering a hybrid work schedule of three days on-site and two days remote. The hiring client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Southern California that specializes in supporting other nonprofits through fiscal sponsorship, capacity-building, and consulting services. This role is crucial because it helps community-based organizations operate effectively by ensuring accurate financial reporting and full compliance with state and federal requirements for multiple projects. What You’ll Actually Do
• Transaction Recording: Record day-to-day accounting transactions and complete month-end close procedures, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
• Documentation & Entries: Post journal entries for assigned projects and maintain up-to-date accounting documentation and records.
• Fund Management: Issue vendor payments and record incoming funds from grantors and funders.
• Grant Support: Support grant and contract management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting.
• Project Liaison: Serve as a point of contact for assigned projects, building strong working relationships and addressing their financial needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field. This is an entry-level accounting role.
• Experience: At least 1 year of accounting or auditing experience.
• Skills: Recording daily accounting transactions, executing month-end close procedures (accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations), posting journal entries, maintaining accounting documentation, managing vendor payments, recording incoming funds, supporting grant and contract management. Proficiency with QuickBooks is highly desired.
• Bonus: Prior experience in nonprofit accounting or audit is strongly preferred. Additional 2 years of relevant nonprofit accounting experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
