This is a full-time role at CFD Research Corporation, located 100% onsite in Huntsville, AL. This role is essential for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, supporting vital accounting functions like accounts payable and travel expenses, and contributing to the financial integrity and compliance of the company’s government contracting operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable Management: Enter and maintain all accounts payable transactions within the ERP system.
• Vendor Relations: Setup new vendors, maintain accurate vendor records, and respond to all vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account balances.
• Travel Expense Support: Assist employees with travel inquiries and the preparation of expense reports.
• Financial Closing Assistance: Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Audit and Compliance: Assist with various audits and learn to maintain a working knowledge of FAR, cost accounting principles, and the distinction between direct vs. indirect costs.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; this is an early career role.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience working in an accounting role.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, good working knowledge of all other Microsoft Office applications, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment, U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Bonus: Experience utilizing Unanet and Concur software, knowledge of FAR and DFAR supplements, and 1+ years of experience specifically working in an accounting role for a government contractor.
