This is a full-time hybrid role at TEAL BECKER & CHIARAMONTE CPAs, located in Albany, New York. The firm specializes in assisting privately held businesses, not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities, employee benefit plans, and individuals with their financial needs. This Staff Accountant position is critical for providing essential accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting services to clients. The role ensures routine financial assignments are completed accurately and under supervision, supporting the firm’s commitment to client success and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Fieldwork: Perform detailed fieldwork procedures for various accounting and auditing engagements, which includes conducting client inquiries, performing analytical reviews, and executing specific tests to ensure financial accuracy.
• Prepare Financial Statements & Tax Returns: Meticulously prepare complete financial statements for diverse clients, alongside federal and state income tax returns covering corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, trust, estate, and non-profit entities.
• Manage Accounting Functions: Execute fundamental accounting functions such as systematic bookkeeping and thorough reconciliations, and prepare any other necessary governmental filings to maintain compliance.
• Support Client & Internal Projects: Actively participate in various in-house special projects as assigned and contribute to internal firm initiatives, including serving on committees or working groups.
• Develop Professional Skills: Engage in firm-directed continuing professional education (CPE) and hands-on, on-the-job training, alongside active networking and the development of a personal marketing plan to foster career growth.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or a closely related field. They should have accumulated 150 relevant credit hours as required for the CPA Exam and demonstrate basic knowledge of accounting concepts, with a clear commitment to being on the CPA career track.
• Experience: Efficient knowledge and practical application of Excel are essential for this role. No specific prior professional experience in years is explicitly required.
• Skills: The ideal candidate will exhibit strong computer proficiency, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and effective interpersonal abilities. They must be highly organized, detail-oriented, energetic, possess a strong desire to learn, and demonstrate unwavering integrity with the critical ability to handle confidential information. Furthermore, the ability to excel in a deadline-driven environment and communicate effectively with both client employees and management is crucial.
• Bonus: A Master of Science in Taxation (MST), Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), or another industry-related graduate degree is preferred to enhance qualifications for this position.
