Revenue Reporting Accountant | Diamondback Energy
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Diamondback Energy, an independent oil and natural gas company focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, long-lived, onshore oil and natural gas reserves. In this crucial position, you will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting by analyzing essential revenue data. Your work directly supports the preparation of key accrual and re-accrual entries, contributing to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Analyze monthly revenue data, including production volumes and pricing, to provide critical support for accrual and re-accrual processes.
• Financial Entries: Prepare necessary accruals and journal entries while actively performing month-end close activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile general ledger accounts and offer comprehensive support for broader account reconciliation processes within the team.
• Deadline Management: Ensure all revenue reporting deadlines are consistently met, maintaining accuracy and timeliness in financial submissions.
• Team Support & Projects: Provide assistance to other members of the Revenue Reporting team and undertake ad hoc analysis and special projects as they arise.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional holding a Bachelor’s degree (BBA or BS) in Accounting, coupled with a foundational understanding of revenue accounting, production, and general accounting principles.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are required. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including expertise with functions such as XLOOKUP and SUMIF, and the ability to utilize Pivot Tables effectively.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables). Foundational knowledge of revenue accounting principles. Understanding of production data. Strong grasp of general accounting principles.
• Bonus: One or more years of accounting experience, preferably gained within the oil and gas industry. A demonstrated interest in identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiency enhancements. The ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and work assignments. Strong organizational and time management capabilities, alongside a high attention to detail and the aptitude to rapidly learn new systems and concepts.
