The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Merchants Fleet, located in Hooksett, NH, requiring 3 days onsite per week. • Team: Two separate Staff Accountant openings, supporting different business areas and reporting to different accounting leaders.
• Mission: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information while developing practical accounting expertise and contributing meaningful work.
• Tech Stack: Spreadsheets, financial information systems, lease accounting systems, enterprise financial systems, financial planning tools, reconciliation platforms, data-processing tools, SQL.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review and document transactions throughout the accounting cycle to maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with month-end close processes, account analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation required for the annual financial audit.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to internal business partners.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, controls, and workflows.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; foundational knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience: Up to three years of accounting experience, including internships, co-ops, or relevant academic experience.
• Skills: Comfort working with spreadsheets, financial information, and detailed data; strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills; interest in learning new accounting technologies and business systems.
• Bonus: Experience with lease accounting, enterprise financial systems, financial planning tools, reconciliation platforms, data-processing tools, or SQL is helpful; CPA or MBA credentials are welcomed.
