This is a full-time, entry-level Staff Accountant role at Waste Connections, located in Bellevue, Nebraska, within the Waste Connections of Nebraska – Papillion Sanitation division. • Mission: To ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis for operational locations, supporting strategic financial planning and compliance while developing towards an Assistant Controller role.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare financial statements and participate in monthly financial close processes for assigned operating locations.
• Reconcile: Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Analyze: Analyze and report significant financial variances against budget and forecast.
• Forecast: Prepare and present a rolling three-month financial forecast each month.
• Support: Support quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal reviews.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; an entry-level professional.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and various accounting systems.
• Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and organizational capabilities.
• Bonus: CPA or other professional certifications are considered a strong plus.
