Associate Plant Accountant | Packaging Corporation of America
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Packaging Corporation of America, located at one of its plant facilities. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and producing timely reports, analysis, and statements, ensuring the plant’s financial integrity and compliance with company policies and accounting principles. • Mission: Maintain all accounting records and produce timely reports, analysis, and statements in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, accounts payable and general ledger software
What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger: Accurately and completely post entries to the general ledger, then verify and balance accounts.
• Accounts Payable: Post, validate, and process accounts payable transactions, including the preparation of batch payments.
• Accounts Receivable: Post, audit, and collect accounts receivable transactions, making adjustments and corrections as appropriate.
• Payroll Support: Provide assistance with the processing of weekly hourly payroll for the plant.
• Month-end Close: Assist in the preparations for month-end financial closings of the plant’s financials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma required, with solid working knowledge of accounting procedures gained through 1+ year of business office or accounting experience.
• Experience: At least one year of previous work experience exposed to general ledger, payroll, and/or accounts payable functions, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Skills: Possesses strong analytical and organizational skills, the ability to handle detail-oriented tasks and multiple documents, and a strong appreciation for managing confidential information.
• Bonus: An Associate’s degree or college accounting coursework, previous experience in the manufacturing or packaging industry, or familiarity with specific accounts payable and general ledger software is preferred.
