Risk Controls Manager | Millennium

This role is crucial to the firm’s Global Risk Management Department, ensuring robust risk controls for external managers across portfolios. The position supports a sound and controlled trading environment by establishing and maintaining standards for external trading groups, aligning with firm policies and requirements.

• Mission: This person establishes, monitors, and enhances risk control frameworks for external managers to support safe, sound, and compliant trading activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Lead regional oversight of external manager risk controls, partnering with Execution teams and external trading groups to establish effective controls frameworks and address regional requirements.
• Expertise: Serve as the regional subject-matter expert for external trading controls, encompassing onboarding, pre-trade, and post-trade risk management.
• Partnership: Partner with external trading group control functions to establish trading limits, monitor adherence, and manage exceptions.
• Coordination: Coordinate controls reviews, limit assessments, and implementation requirements for onboarding external Portfolio Managers and third-party trading tools.
• Development: Develop and maintain controls dashboards that monitor performance, identify emerging risks, and highlight remediation needs.
• Review: Review significant trading events, assess control implications, and track delivery of agreed remediation plans.
• Contribution: Contribute to the continued enhancement of firm-wide standards, policies, procedures, and governance for external trading activities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager-level professional with core domain knowledge in trading, risk, or controls.
• Experience: 10–15 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or overseeing trading limits, control frameworks, and exception-management processes.
• Skills: Strong product knowledge across one or more asset classes including equities, futures, options, or commodities; strong project-management skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; sound judgment with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Bonus: Experience supporting electronic trading, knowledge of third-party execution platforms and trading tools, proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Tableau, SQL, VBA, Jira, and/or Python.
