Data Analyst, Engagement Analytics | Disney

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Disney, located in Santa Monica, CA or New York, NY. The Data Intelligence & Analytics (DnA) organization supports Disney’s suite of streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN. This role is crucial for the Subscriber Lifecycle & Commerce Analytics team, where the focus is on understanding the measurement, trends, and drivers behind streaming platform engagement. By mastering exploratory data analysis, reporting, and data visualization, this position delivers actionable insights and recommendations essential for strategic business decision-making.

• Mission: The core mission is to master exploratory data analysis, reporting, and data visualization to deliver actionable insights and recommendations that support understanding streaming platform engagement, its underlying drivers, and its relationship to subscriber retention across Disney’s services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analysis: Support detailed engagement trend analyses and ad hoc deep dives into the core content, subscriber, and product drivers of key performance indicators.
• Optimization: Uncover insights to help optimize the content portfolio, partnering with Content Planning, Partnerships, Programming, Product, and Marketing teams to drive quality engagement hours.
• Methodology Development: Assist in developing new metrics and analytical approaches to accurately measure engagement trends and audience behavior.
• Data Synthesis: Use SQL and data visualization tools to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Communication & Collaboration: Communicate results through compelling data storytelling and build strong relationships with strategic and operational business teams to support ongoing analytical requests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on analytical work experience with SQL, along with experience working with large data sets and interpreting trends from disparate sources.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills to translate data into clear, actionable insights; familiarity with data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker; strong attention to detail for troubleshooting data issues; highly collaborative with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience in the streaming media industry, direct-to-consumer, or subscription-based product; a passion for TV, film, and entertainment.
