Project Accountant | Brinkmann Constructors

This is a full-time, exempt role at Brinkmann Constructors, based at the corporate office and requiring travel to St. Louis Metro area job sites three times a week. • Team: Reports to the Accounting Manager
• Mission: This role owns the comprehensive management of all project-specific billings, job cost functions, and financial reporting, ensuring smooth and accurate financial operations for construction projects.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Word, other Office applications, Vista Viewpoint or similar construction software (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoicing: Code and accurately enter invoices into the accounting system.
• Subcontractor Management: Process and manage all subcontractor billings and related documentation.
• Document Control: Maintain control of subcontractor documents, including lien releases.
• Owner Billing: Prepare and submit draw requests to owners, including all required schedules and invoice copies.
• Auditing Support: Provide assistance during job audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of recent, relevant experience in an accounting or similar financial role, specifically within the construction industry. A foundational understanding and knowledge of AIA billings documentation are also required for this position.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of recent, hands-on experience in an accounting capacity or a comparable financial role within the construction sector is essential. While not strictly required, prior project accounting experience is considered highly desired for this role.
• Skills: The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, coupled with a proven ability to consistently meet critical deadlines. This role demands a strong capacity to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently, along with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other standard Office applications. Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to seamlessly multi-task are also key attributes.
• Bonus: Prior experience utilizing Vista Viewpoint or similar construction-specific accounting software platforms is a preferred qualification for applicants.
