Part-Time Bookkeeper (Roofing/Construction) | California Roof Pros

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at California Roof Pros, located in San Francisco, CA. This Bookkeeper role is critical in supporting the daily financial operations that underpin the company’s integrity and detailed service delivery, ensuring accurate and timely financial data for all construction and business activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
Transaction Management: Record daily financial transactions and meticulously track job-related costs for all roofing projects and general business operations.
Account Reconciliation & Maintenance: Reconcile accounts to verify accuracy, maintaining precise and up-to-date bookkeeping records across all financial ledgers.
Financial Reporting Support: Prepare and review basic financial reports, providing essential data for operational decision-making by project managers and leadership.
Invoice & Payment Processing: Efficiently process vendor invoices, manage incoming customer payments, and assist with accurate payroll data entry in collaboration with the operations team.
Compliance & Audit Documentation: Organize and maintain comprehensive financial documentation to ensure readiness for audits, licensing requirements, and insurance compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must possess strong foundational skills in Finance and Bookkeeping, demonstrating the ability to manage day-to-day financial operations within a small business context.
• Experience: Proven hands-on experience posting and reconciling Journal Entries in accordance with standard accounting practices. Proficiency with accounting software and related digital tools is required, along with experience in preparing, reviewing, and interpreting basic financial statements for project-based work. Basic understanding of job costing, billing, and reconciliations for service-based or construction projects is essential.
• Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry for invoices, receipts, and job files. Strong organizational skills are paramount for maintaining comprehensive financial records. A high level of integrity and confidentiality is expected when handling sensitive financial and client information, alongside a reliable and punctual on-site presence. Comfort working collaboratively in a construction/roofing environment with field teams, vendors, and customers is also key.
• Bonus: Prior experience in construction or roofing bookkeeping. Familiarity with California tax and licensing requirements. An associate degree or relevant coursework in accounting, finance, or business.
