Internship – Securities Processing (Year-Round) | Baird
The Tone:
This is a year-round internship at Baird, located in downtown Milwaukee, WI. Baird’s Operations Department plays a critical role in the success and growth of the firm by partnering with various businesses and functions to drive efficiencies and reduce risk. This specific role within the Securities Processing team is essential for safeguarding client assets through the careful management of physical and electronic securities.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time during summer (37.5-40 hrs/wk), Part-time during school semesters (15-20 hrs/wk)
• Location: In-person Milwaukee, WI
• Team: Operations Department, Securities Processing team
• Mission: Safeguard client assets through the receipt, transfer, registration, and maintenance of physical and electronic securities.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Processing: Assist in the processing and clearing of physical stock as well as book entry shares.
• Maintenance: Support the receipt, review, and maintenance of physical stock certificates and related documentation.
• Research: Research and resolve exceptions while ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Collaboration: Participate in daily team meetings and collaborate across the firm to help ensure highly efficient customer service.
• Learning: Gain exposure to brokerage operations, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or a related field. Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later.
• Experience: Entry-Level. Must be a local student who can start January 2027 or earlier.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, detail-orientation, organizational, time management, problem-solving, client service, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
• Bonus: Positive attitude, proactive in seeking additional work, and strong initiative.
