The Tone:
This is an onsite role at Torentify, located in Santa Monica, California. The role operates within the Controllership team, which is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial reporting needs of a substantial subscription business. This business offers premium streaming content, including live and on-demand TV and movies, available both with and without commercials. The Financial Analyst will be crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting for these diverse subscription services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Close Activities: Prepare accurate journal entries and comprehensive account reconciliations for key balance sheet and expense accounts specifically during the critical quarter-end close processes, ensuring compliance with reporting standards.
• Contractual Accruals: Review distribution, bundling, and carriage agreements to operationalize complex contractual terms, facilitating the precise calculation of monthly and quarterly license fee, revenue share, and bounty fee accruals.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct thorough analytical reviews and in-depth variance analyses for key financial and operating metrics, alongside preparing detailed monthly statement calculations to provide critical insights into performance.
• Process Optimization & Troubleshooting: Actively identify and propose process improvement opportunities, including the strategic use of AI and efficiency tools such as Alteryx. This includes troubleshooting accounting issues within systems and helping test and implement effective solutions.
• Internal Controls & Audit Support: Effectively operate established internal controls, support necessary updates to SOX process documentation as needed, and provide essential support during the annual financial statement audit.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required, with a working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in public accounting.
• Skills: US GAAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, Financial accounting, Journal entries and account reconciliations, Variance analysis, Internal controls and SOX processes.
• Bonus: CPA or CPA candidate, Industry experience in media and/or entertainment, Experience with SAP Financials.
