Associate Accountant | Tyson Foods

This is a full-time role for an Associate Accountant at Tyson Foods, located in Center, TX. • Mission: Analyzes financial and operational data to support business decisions, ensure data accuracy, and maintain compliance within a manufacturing plant.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SAP (preferred)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze Production Performance: Analyze production yields, process orders, labor utilization, material costs, and manufacturing variances, diving deep to understand their underlying drivers and identify areas for efficiency and improvement.
• Support Financial Closures: Review time and attendance records, assist with payroll processing and coverage, and comprehensively support all month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain System Accuracy: Prepare accurate and timely journal entries, conduct thorough account reconciliations, and diligently maintain data accuracy within crucial financial systems.
• Provide Operational Insights: Spend significant time on the production floor learning processes, observing operations, and building relationships to understand the root causes behind yield, labor, and production variances, thereby supporting continuous improvement efforts.
• Ensure Policy Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all internal controls and company policies across daily operations, financial reporting, and data management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, or equivalent experience commensurate with knowledge typically acquired through a four-year degree. This represents an excellent Entry-Level career opportunity to build expertise in operational accounting.
• Experience: Six months or more of work experience is preferred, though not strictly required, offering a chance for motivated individuals to begin their professional journey.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong analytical abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and superior written and verbal communication capabilities; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently or within a team environment; capable of using good judgment to complete tasks; and skilled in setting priorities and coordinating with others.
• Bonus: Prior experience with ERP systems, experience within a manufacturing environment, and familiarity with SAP software will be considered a significant advantage.
