Commercial Analyst | Alter Domus
The Tone:
This is an early career program at Alter Domus, located in New York. Alter Domus is a strategic partner that administers $3.9 trillion in assets across private equity, private debt, real estate, and infrastructure, serving the alternative investment industry with over 7,000 colleagues globally. This role offers an apprenticeship experience, allowing you to build foundational knowledge of alternative investments and learn how origination and the end-to-end sales process functions directly from senior sales professionals. It provides unique access to developing commercial and sales skills vital for a career in this growing financial segment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• In-Depth Research: Produce written account briefs and support packs for prospective clients and live opportunities, monitoring market data and regulatory sources to identify new fund launches and service provider changes.
• Technology and AI Enablement: Apply a best-in-class commercial technology stack and approved AI tools to day-to-day work, contributing to team standards and sharing successful workflows.
• Supporting Senior Sales: Assist in researching and prioritizing prospective clients, building raw material for outreach, tracking responses, and helping secure and attend initial client meetings.
• Developing Partner Network: Build a network of peers at ancillary firms (law firms, audit, tax, consultants), identify referral opportunities, attend industry events, and represent Alter Domus credibly.
• Campaign and Conference Execution: Support the building and validation of target lists for sales campaigns, track performance, contribute to readouts, and assist with mapping, outreach, and follow-up for industry conferences.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Recent graduate or early in their career with a curiosity about financial markets, specifically private capital, and a clear motivation for this industry.
• Experience: Prior experience in a related role is beneficial; competency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; comfortable with technology and genuinely curious about applying AI tools to commercial work.
• Skills: Clear, confident written and verbal communication; eagerness to develop analytical instincts and grow comfortable with detail; resilience and self-direction in outbound origination; organized with the ability to manage competing demands against deadlines; ambition for a career in commercial and sales.
• Bonus: Any exposure to CRM systems (Salesforce, Outreach), private equity, private credit, real estate, or infrastructure (through study, internship, or student investment fund), or a second language.
