Accounting Associate | RemoteHunter
The Tone:
This is a full-time role for RemoteHunter’s client, located remotely in the United States. This client operates within the finance and accounting services space, providing detailed, accurate, and timely financial management and accounting support to mission-driven organizations. The Accounting Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records by managing core transactional accounting functions. This position directly contributes to the organization’s financial integrity and operational efficiency, supporting organizations committed to progressive causes with transparency and a focus on growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Transactional Accounting: Process accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, payment posting, monitoring, collection efforts, vendor onboarding, and reconciliation.
• Execute Payroll & Expense Allocation: Post payroll reports and accurately allocate payroll expenses by class within the general ledger.
• Support Month-End Close: Assist in month-end close activities, performing bank and credit card reconciliations and preparing necessary journal entries.
• Maintain General Ledger & Media Balances: Keep accurate general ledger records for revenue, expenditures, and paid media spend, reconciling media balances and preparing refund requests.
• Support Financial Reporting & Policies: Prepare financial information for reporting and tax filings, conduct transaction research, and assist in updating fiscal policies and procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a relevant field.
• Experience: Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks with deadlines, and handle confidential information professionally.
• Skills: Proficiency with Google Sheets and Excel, highly organized, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: An associate’s degree with relevant experience is considered; prior experience with QuickBooks Online, Justworks, Bill.com, and Ramp is preferred; experience in startup or growth environments.
