The Tone:
This is a contract role with potential for contract-to-hire, operating remotely while supporting a Houston, TX-based accounting team. The client is an established retail and e-commerce organization distinguished by its well-known heritage brand. This position offers a key opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. The role is designed to support a collaborative accounting team, enabling the successful candidate to build valuable experience across reconciliations, broader general accounting responsibilities, and various ERP systems in a retail and e-commerce environment.

• Pay: $27–$32 hourly
• Team: Collaborative accounting team
• Mission: Support daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, providing essential coverage for the accounting team.
• Tech Stack: Excel, NetSuite, Shopify

What You’ll Actually Do
• Daily Operations: Support daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, also providing coverage for accounting team members as needed.
• Accounting Activities: Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and other transactional accounting activities.
• System Management: Work within NetSuite and Shopify-related accounting processes.
• Special Projects: Assist with special projects assigned by the accounting team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits.
• Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience with responsibilities in Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable.
• Skills: Proficiency with Excel.
• Bonus: Experience with NetSuite, Shopify, and in a retail/e-commerce environment.
