Tax & Accounting Intern | SecurEdge Tax Strategies

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at SecurEdge Tax Strategies, located in Fargo-Moorhead. As a smaller, relationship-focused firm, SecurEdge Tax Strategies provides hands-on tax and accounting services to individuals and businesses. This role offers an accounting student direct training and exposure to public accounting, making a meaningful contribution to client service and firm operations. You will gain practical experience by working alongside experienced professionals rather than observing from the sidelines.

• Mission: Support client tax and accounting needs by assisting experienced professionals with tax return preparation, planning, and bookkeeping tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
Tax Return Preparation: Assist in the preparation of individual and business tax returns, specifically including partnerships and S corporations.
Client Data Management: Organize and meticulously review client information, proactively identifying any missing items required for tax and accounting processes.
Tax Planning & Research: Participate actively in tax-planning discussions and conduct research to answer various tax-related questions.
Client Interaction & Accounting Support: Communicate professionally with clients and assist with essential bookkeeping tasks, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
Professional Development: Learn and apply professional tax and accounting software while working directly with CPAs to receive ongoing, individualized feedback.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An accounting student pursuing an accounting degree with a basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience: Entry-Level. No prior accounting experience or familiarity with tax software is required; comprehensive training will be provided.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organization and communication abilities, a dependable and positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the capacity to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Bonus: Completion of an introductory income-tax course is preferred but not required.
