Accounting Intern | Simplot Company
The Tone:
This is a long-term, in-person internship at Simplot Company, located in Boise, Idaho. Simplot is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company, headquartered in Boise. The company operates as a true farm-to-table enterprise with an integrated portfolio that includes food processing, various food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other agriculture-related businesses. This Accounting Intern role is crucial for supporting the business by providing practical exposure to key controllership functions. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist with a range of accounting and financial reporting activities, encompassing the generation of daily and weekly reports to support ongoing business needs.
• Transactional Processing and Reconciliation: Prepare and process journal entries accurately, in addition to completing thorough monthly account reconciliations to ensure financial data integrity.
• Data Analysis and Improvement: Analyze financial data to identify significant trends, pinpoint discrepancies, or discover opportunities for enhancing existing processes.
• Team Collaboration: Partner effectively with experienced accounting team members to actively support ongoing business and financial initiatives across the company.
• Special Project Participation: Engage in various special projects, providing broader exposure to different areas of accounting and finance within a corporate setting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor Degree. Entry-Level. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a nationally accredited college or university, actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Furthermore, successful completion of at least one Intermediate Accounting course is a prerequisite for this role.
• Experience: Junior standing or higher. Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, which are essential for contributing effectively to the team.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, alongside a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and tools used in the accounting environment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively are also key.
