Tax Entry Level Accountant 2027 | Withum

This is an early career position at Withum, located in one of the firm’s office locations. This role is crucial for accounting majors graduating in 2027, providing a hands-on opportunity to launch a career in public accounting. You will work alongside experienced tax professionals, gaining practical experience in individual and business tax preparation, compliance, and planning while supporting clients across diverse industries.

• Location: In one of Withum’s office locations
• Pay: $62,000–$90,000 yearly
• Team: Part of the Tax team, supervised by a Manager or Partner, starting in the November 2027 Class.
• Mission: Launch an early career in public accounting by gaining hands-on experience in individual and business tax preparation, compliance, and planning for diverse clients.
• Tech Stack: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; experience with tax technology platforms, data analytics tools, and tax software is a plus.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and nonprofits, contributing to comprehensive tax compliance.
• Tax Research & Planning: Assist with tax planning and research projects by utilizing authoritative sources and Withum’s proprietary tools to address complex client scenarios.
• Financial Data Analysis: Analyze financial data thoroughly and apply relevant tax regulations to client scenarios, ensuring accuracy and adherence to compliance standards.
• Integrated Client Service: Collaborate effectively with audit and advisory teams to ensure seamless and integrated client service, supporting a holistic approach to client needs.
• Strategic Contributions: Participate in client meetings and contribute to strategic discussions, offering insights and supporting decision-making processes.
• Technology Utilization: Leverage tax technology platforms and data analytics tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness in tax processes.
• Professional Development: Stay current on evolving tax laws and industry trends through continuous learning, and assume increasing responsibility on engagements as proficiency grows.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A graduating college student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, aiming to join the November 2027 class as an entry-level professional.
• Experience: This role is designed for accounting majors graduating in the upcoming academic year, with no prior professional experience strictly required.
• Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills are essential for collaborating effectively and managing tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is also required for data analysis.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include having 150 credit hours, prior internship experience with a public accounting firm, and experience with various tax software platforms.
