Project Accountant | Comfort Systems USA

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at TAS, part of Comfort Systems USA, located in Houston, TX. TAS delivers modular systems engineered and manufactured in Houston facilities, utilized in data centers, power, and commercial/industrial utility system applications. As a key participant in financial reporting, this role ensures timely and accurate information, covering job cost tracking, balance sheet reconciliations, research, and payment approvals for project managers.

• Mission: Provide timely and accurate financial information reporting for job cost tracking, balance sheet reconciliations, and project payment approvals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Revenue Recognition: Manage the financial aspects of the Percentage of Completion (POC) Revenue recognition process, assuring compliance with corporate policy.
• Financial Model Control: Audit and control financial models to provide continuous and accurate reporting on jobs in progress.
• Project Reporting: Prepare and issue accurate and timely weekly and monthly project reports.
• Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial policies and guidelines, delegation of authority, deviation approval processes, and terms and conditions limitations.
• Process Improvement: Lead and participate in teams to improve processes and performance, including the use of process maps.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, business administration, or another related field.
• Experience: Three (3) years of related experience, with financial experience in accounting or project accounting using the percentage-of-completion method.
• Skills: Strong working knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, strong ERP working knowledge, strong MS Office (Excel, Word), and effective communication, interpersonal, analysis, and critical thinking skills.
