Crypto Product Accounting | Stripe
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Stripe, located in the US with hybrid office expectations. Stripe operates as a financial infrastructure platform, empowering millions of companies, from startups to large enterprises, to accept payments, grow revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities, all with a mission to increase the GDP of the internet. This role is a critical part of the Stripe Accounting Team, responsible for supporting all Stripe products and consulting on their accounting implications. Specifically, this individual will focus on the financial operations of products developed by the Bridge subsidiary, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of business-generated transactions on the balance sheet and income statement for cryptocurrency offerings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Oversight: Own P&L accounting for Bridge’s products, including preparing journal entries, completing reconciliations, conducting variance analyses, generating financial reporting deliverables, and performing analytical reviews.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with Bridge’s product, go-to-market, and finance teams to thoroughly understand new products, features, and contracts, and to provide expert advice on their accounting implications.
• Automation: Collaborate with internal systems and engineering teams to support internal financial systems, identify, recommend, and implement scalable accounting processes to support global growth at Bridge.
• Analysis: Research and prepare comprehensive technical accounting analyses, assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.
• Review: Deeply understand data and system flows, meticulously analyze financial results to identify and address anomalies, and actively support external audit processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance is required, with a CPA designation strongly preferred. This is a senior-level accounting role demanding technical expertise in U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 606, and direct experience accounting for cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins.
• Experience: Requires 7+ years of relevant experience obtained through public accounting or industry roles. Candidates must have a proven track record of managing a high volume of complex transactions and financial issues, and quickly identifying accounting implications.
• Skills: Fluency in U.S. GAAP and the ability to research complex accounting issues independently. Proficiency in SQL is a minimum requirement. Demonstrated excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts effectively to both financial and non-financial audiences, and a history of influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
• Bonus: Knowledge of or experience within the technology or payments industry.
