• Mission: This role ensures Corning’s trade and customs operations are fully compliant with regulations, identifies savings opportunities, and supports efficient business processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Consulting: Advise plants on customs and regulatory requirements such as classification, customs valuation, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), AEO certification, and export control.
• System Management: Manage export control processes and data efficiently using SAP GTS, Corning’s dedicated trade compliance system.
• Auditing & Training: Execute internal plant and external vendor audits, including interviews, report generation, action plan design, and follow-up, to ensure operational compliance. Additionally, provide onboarding and refresh training on Corning’s trade compliance requirements.
• Regulatory Response: Organize and coordinate discussions and responses to government authorities concerning customs audits, inquiries, and self-discipline matters.
• Strategic Initiatives: Support plant expansion projects and supply chain model design by offering trade compliance solutions, maximizing saving opportunities through initiatives like duty exemptions and FTAs, and ensuring daily operations align with updated Chinese trade compliance policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in international business, trade management, logistics, supply chain management, or trade law.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in customs compliance, covering HS classification, customs valuation, FTA, rule of origin, and US/EU export control (ECCN/ECN).
• Skills: Expertise in customs compliance (HS classification, customs valuation, FTA), export control management (US/EU ECCN/ECN), and strong communication in both English and Chinese.
• Bonus: Prior experience in export/import operations and familiarity with trade compliance systems.
