The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mayo Clinic, an institution dedicated to advancing patient care through integrated clinical practice, education, and research. This position is crucial as a bioinformatics collaborator, directly applying specialized expertise to design, implement, analyze, interpret, and report on complex research and clinical genomics studies, thereby contributing significantly to understanding and treating diseases in urology.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Mission: To apply bioinformatics expertise to accelerate the design, analysis, and interpretation of genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data within research and clinical genomics studies.
• Team: This position functions under the direct supervision of a Senior Bioinformatician or Principal Bioinformatician.
• Tech Stack: bioinformatics and computational biology tools and techniques, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics (omics technologies), programming, informatics computing, data management packages.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate on Studies: Function as a bioinformatics collaborator, applying specialized expertise to the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research and clinical genomics studies.
• Analyze Omics Data: Apply a variety of bioinformatics and computational biology tools and techniques to analyze complex genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data, encompassing various omics technologies.
• Develop Analytical Tools: Utilize good programming skills to develop novel analytical tools specifically tailored to meet the evolving needs of ongoing projects.
• Manage Clinical Trial Data & Statistics: Oversee regulatory, compliance, and programmatic data for clinical trials, while also performing sample size calculations, power balance assessments, and running statistical analyses for departmental manuscripts.
• Administer and Document Projects: Accurately keep track and record time spent on projects, and meticulously maintain documentation with sufficient detail to ensure seamless handoff to other bioinformatics staff members.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s in bioinformatics or a similar field with a strong emphasis on analytical omics expertise.
• Experience: Expertise in the use of informatics computing and data management packages, coupled with demonstrated success in project management and effective communication skills.
• Skills: Good written and oral communication skills, strong programming skills for tool development, ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate various tasks on projects, and a commitment to customer service.
• Bonus: Basic knowledge of statistical methodology, and frequently demonstrated initiative in administration, education (seminars, training), software development, and technical report writing.
