Merchandiser Assistant I | Scoular

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Scoular, a 1400-employee company with over 100 offices and facilities across North America and Asia, operating in feed, food, transportation, and logistics. This position supports crucial accounting and control procedures, including accounts payable and receivable, for a $7 billion company. The Merchandiser Assistant I is key to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring vendor and customer satisfaction, and contributing to process improvements that drive positive business outcomes. The TL;DR

• Mission: Support proper accounting and control procedures, managing accounts payable and receivable, and serving as a key vendor communication point.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Keeping: Partner with Merchandisers and Controllers to provide timely and accurate records for product and freight positions.
• Service Delivery: Deliver excellent service to customers and vendors, including timely processing of payments and resolution of any problems.
• Reporting & Resolution: Actively monitor and create Account Receivables, Account Payables, Freight Analysis, and other miscellaneous reports on a daily/weekly basis, resolving any issues.
• Digital Organization: Maintain an organized digital filing system which includes invoices, contracts, reports, and payment receipts.
• Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory balances with third-party locations monthly.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience: The role benefits from approximately 2 years of general office experience.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong customer service and communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, high attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to handle confidential materials responsibly.
• Bonus: An Associate’s degree is preferred, along with an understanding of basic accounting principles, especially in accounts payable. Knowledge of commodities or experience within the agricultural industry is also a plus.
