Staff Accountant | State of Indiana

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Recording: Record daily bank activity and ensure transactions are appropriately captured.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts, track investments for deferred prizes, and resolve identified discrepancies.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, research items affecting account balances, and perform monthly financial statement analysis for leadership.
• Budget Management: Coordinate monthly budget forecasts with executive staff and assist with annual budget preparation.
• Cash Management: Initiate ACH and wire transfers, including the monthly distribution of Surplus Revenue to the Lottery Surplus Fund.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial management, or a related field.
• Experience: At least one year of professional experience in accounting or banking; experience using computerized accounting systems.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, solid understanding of accounting and banking principles including GAAP, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
