The Tone:
This is an Accounting Intern position at Winsupply. Winsupply operates a unique business model focused on creating and enabling entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams through wholesale distribution, supporting over 670 locally-owned companies across diverse industries such as HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical. The support services campus, where this role is based, is dedicated to eliminating obstacles and providing essential back-office operations, including finance and accounting, to empower these entrepreneurs. This internship offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the success and long-term growth of these local businesses by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis, while working closely with company presidents and senior management.

• Team: Finance and Accounting teams within the Support Services campus, collaborating with local company Presidents and Winsupply management.
• Mission: To support comprehensive monthly and annual financial reporting, ensuring accurate financial statements and year-end reports for numerous local companies and corporate entities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Oversight & Guidance: Act as a controller and/or CPA for individual companies, providing essential guidance on financial matters and contributing to their overall success.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Support the robust month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for a portfolio of 70-110 companies within two business days, and prepare complex financial statements for 80-120 companies.
• Dividend & Cash Flow Management: Assist with the quarterly dividend process, advising on appropriate dividend payments, and providing critical data and analytics to support cash flow management and recommendations for local companies.
• Audit & Compliance: Coordinate with outside auditors on various accounting projects, prepare and meticulously maintain year-end audit work papers, and actively assist in audit activities while supporting a strong internal control environment.
• System & Data Management: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy, ensure OnBase GL account reconciliations are completed and updated monthly, and maintain the Real Estate Management System with accurate lease obligations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a university or college program (Undergraduate or Master’s level), or within one semester post-graduation, possessing a solid foundational understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience: Eager to learn and highly motivated to build practical, hands-on experience in financial accounting and corporate finance, covering areas such as general ledger management, financial analysis, and accounting processes.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong analytical skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills for collaboration across teams.
• Bonus: Grade level of Junior or higher.
