Bookkeeper | GMB Powerline Services
The Tone:
This is a full-time, remote position at GMB Powerline Services, a family-owned utility contractor based in West Virginia. The company deploys IBEW crews across the Gulf Coast, Northeast, Midwest, and beyond to restore and maintain critical power infrastructure. This role is vital for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all day-to-day accounting transactions, directly supporting the company’s operational excellence and commitment to a safer, more reliable energy grid.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Accounts Payable & Vendor Records: Handle the full cycle of accounts payable, including entering bills, verifying approvals and coding, processing vendor payments, and maintaining current vendor files.
• Process Accounts Receivable & Customer Billing: Create and apply customer invoices and payments in QuickBooks Online, ensuring accurate accounts receivable records and maintaining billing documentation.
• Perform Financial Reconciliations & Recordkeeping: Execute monthly bank account reconciliations and reconcile other balance sheet accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and supported.
• Maintain QuickBooks Online System: Administer and update customer, vendor, employee, and project records within QuickBooks, conducting regular reviews for accuracy and correct coding.
• Oversee Purchase Order Lifecycle: Create, maintain, and track purchase orders, ensuring they are properly matched to vendor bills and project costs, and support project managers with related reporting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced bookkeeper with a minimum of 3-5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, possessing a high level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
• Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, proven ability to process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and experience performing monthly bank reconciliations, particularly within a remote work environment.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online, strong command of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat, along with a solid understanding of general accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Bonus: An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, experience in construction, utility, or project-based accounting, and familiarity with subcontractor accounting, lien waivers, W-9 compliance, and certificate of insurance tracking.
