Job Description

Senior Product Manager – Users | Mercury

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mercury, located remotely in the US or Canada. Mercury builds a financial stack for ambitious founders and teams, whether they are creating a side project or scaling a unicorn. This role on the Users team is crucial, as it owns who is allowed to do what within the platform, including roles, permissions, invitations, and the authorization layer that other product teams build upon. Successfully defining and executing this ensures Mercury can serve as a comprehensive financial stack for companies, not just a banking solution for founders.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time
• Location: Remote, USA, Canada
• Pay: $200700–$250900 yearly
• Team: Users team
• Mission: Own the core identity, roles, permissions, and authorization layer that supports Mercury’s diverse customer base, from solo founders to large enterprises, ensuring security, scalability, and simplicity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Own Identity & Authorization: Own identity, roles, permissions, and authorization end to end, making them granular for demanding customers, rigorous for banking standards, and simple for most users.
• Platform Development: Run identity and authorization as a platform, setting engagement models for other product teams and providing a layer that accelerates their development.
• User Onboarding: Improve the founder experience for bringing their entire team onto Mercury by addressing hesitation and making the invitation process obvious, easy, and high-trust.
• Strategic Direction: Shape the future of this space as Mercury’s product ambition grows and the types of users, including agents, expand.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior level product management, preferably on horizontal product or platform teams with accountability for identity, roles, and authorization.
• Experience: 7+ years of relevant product management experience.
• Skills: Sound judgment to balance powerful permission models with product simplicity, ability to autonomously convert ambiguity into a clear point of view, and capability to manage complex problems end to end, including research, design, engineering, go-to-market, and stakeholder management.
• Bonus: A defined point of view on agentic action and how authorization requirements change when the actor is not a person.
