2027 Summer Intern – Finance Controllership | General Motors
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at General Motors, located in Detroit or Warren, MI, operating in a hybrid work arrangement. What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Assembly: Collaborate with globally diverse organizations to assemble necessary financial data.
• Analysis & Presentation: Perform comprehensive analyses and present recommendations to senior GM executives.
• Financial Reporting: Consolidate and report company results within Corporate or Automotive Controllership functions.
• Accounting Treatment: Analyze transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
• Strategic Partnership: Serve as a strategic business partner to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycles, and reinforce financial integrity.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields. Must be graduating with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree between October 2027 and June 2028. This is an entry-level internship position.
• Experience: Ability to work full time, 40 hours per week, during the summer months of 2027. Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizations is a preferred qualification.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, including the ability to solve problems and develop new methods of analysis. Knowledge of corporate finance principles, including the ability to perform balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow analysis. Familiarity with basic or sophisticated accounting principles. Sophisticated Excel skills. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet goals.
• Bonus: High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, and self-directed initiative. Strong character with honesty, accountability, and trust. Ability to work well with teams and cross-functional groups. Currently pursuing or interested in pursuing a CPA license.
