Accounting Intern | Zipline

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Zipline, located in South San Francisco. Zipline designs, builds, and operates the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, focused on drone delivery of food, medicine, and essential goods across four continents. This role is crucial for supporting Zipline’s global operations by managing critical accounting tasks and ensuring financial accuracy. The intern will learn the foundational elements of corporate accounting within a global, high-growth tech environment.

• Mission: Support Zipline’s global operations by handling critical accounting tasks, assisting with financial operations, and maintaining accurate, audit-ready financial systems and records.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Processes: Assist in core accounting processes including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Financial Close: Support the monthly and quarterly financial close by compiling necessary data, running financial reports, and preparing various schedules.
• System Support: Learn how Zipline’s finance systems function and provide support for data entry, analysis, and data cleanup projects.
• Fixed Assets: Partner with country operations and manufacturing teams to support fixed asset accounting activities, encompassing asset tracking, capitalization, and reconciliation.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with the broader Finance, Procurement, and Operations teams to accurately track transactions and streamline accounting processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Completed the second year of undergraduate studies in Accounting. Masters and PhDs are also eligible for consideration.
• Experience: Eager to apply classroom learning to real-world accounting challenges; comfortable working with numbers in a professional setting.
• Skills: Organized, detail-oriented, familiar with Excel or Google Sheets, asks good questions, enjoys problem-solving, reliable, resourceful, and motivated to learn by doing.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets formulas or pivot tables; a curiosity about accounting in a global tech startup and a passion for Zipline’s mission.
