Specialist, Finance Rotation Program | Charles Schwab

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Charles Schwab, located in specified locations where in-office collaboration is valued. At Schwab, innovative thought meets creative problem-solving, challenging the status quo and transforming the finance industry. This approximately three-year rotational program is designed to build broad financial experience, strategic perspective, and a strong network across the company. As a Finance Specialist, you will provide critical financial oversight and decision support through detailed analysis, accurate forecasting, comprehensive reporting, and continuous process improvement. Your contributions will help leaders understand complex business trends, evaluate performance effectively, and make informed decisions that directly support Schwab’s overarching priorities.

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person
• Team: Within the Finance organization, starting with Investor Services Enterprise Finance Consolidations, with future rotations in Central Finance, Treasury, Controllers, and the Finance Innovation Team.
• Mission: Provide financial oversight and decision support by analyzing, forecasting, reporting, and improving processes to inform strategic business decisions that support company priorities.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Analysis & Oversight: Provide financial oversight and decision support by analyzing comprehensive financial and business data, identifying meaningful insights to inform strategic decisions.
• Forecasting & Performance Reporting: Support the development of expense and metric forecasts, and clearly communicate detailed performance results to business partners and leadership.
• Strategic Process Improvement: Contribute to identifying, evaluating, and recommending improvements to complex financial processes to create greater efficiency, scale, and transparency within the organization.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively collaborate with business partners, cross-functional teams, and Finance leadership to build trusted relationships and achieve shared financial outcomes across different locations.
• Independent Problem Solving: Investigate how financial processes operate, independently evaluate information to solve problems, and recommend practical solutions that support Schwab’s priorities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field, suitable for an early-career entry into a rotational program.
• Experience: Proven knowledge of core finance and accounting principles, with the ability to apply them in analyzing business performance and supporting decision-making; demonstrated experience in extracting, consolidating, manipulating, and summarizing large volumes of data.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including a solid understanding of financial modeling best practices; strong Analytical Thinking for reviewing financial information and identifying trends; effective Problem Solving skills to investigate processes and recommend solutions; clear Communication skills to translate financial analysis into actionable written and verbal insights; and strong Cross-Functional Collaboration skills to build relationships across teams.
• Bonus: Keen Attention to Detail for producing accurate results; high Adaptability and Learning Agility for moving between assignments and developing knowledge of new Finance functions; and effective Priority Management skills to organize and deliver multiple concurrent assignments.
