Staff Accountant | Strativ Group
The Tone:
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to join Strativ Group’s client, a New York fintech building payments infrastructure for businesses moving money internationally. This pivotal Staff Accountant role represents their first in-house accounting hire, as they transition away from an external firm. The successful candidate will work directly with the finance lead to build accounting processes from the ground up, making a significant impact on the company’s financial operations from day one.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Oversee and eventually own the complete month-end close process, working closely with the finance lead during the initial transition.
• Develop: Establish and implement repeatable reporting processes and frameworks where none currently exist, ensuring robust financial insights.
• Execute: Perform end-to-end bookkeeping and comprehensive expense classification across all company operations.
• Transition: Strategically migrate all current accounting functions and responsibilities from the external accounting firm to the new in-house department.
• Assist: Serve as a crucial right hand to the finance lead, providing support on various financial analysis tasks and ad-hoc strategic projects.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates should possess a holistic grasp of accounting principles, demonstrating a fundamental understanding of why financial entries land where they do, beyond just task execution.
• Experience: 0-5 years of accounting experience is required, with strong preference for individuals coming from a Big 4 or national accounting firm background. Experience with financial services clients is ideal.
• Skills: Demonstrated fluency with AI tools is highly valued, or a genuine enthusiasm and readiness to adopt them, as they are heavily utilized. The ideal candidate will also be intellectually curious and comfortable navigating work streams without pre-established playbooks.
• Bonus: CPA certification is preferred for this role. For candidates who do not yet have their CPA, the client offers sponsorship and can provide a signing CPA to support their professional development.
