• Mission: To assist in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and in preparing basic financial reports for the Church’s religious mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Initiate general ledger file maintenance to ensure accurate and meaningful financial statement presentations.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts, review existing reconciliations, and ensure all outstanding items are properly cleared.
• Reporting & Analysis: Prepare special studies and reports for various departments and organizations as needed.
• Expenditure Review: Review expenditures against established budgets, performing necessary reconciliations, investigations, and correcting entries.
• Project Compliance: Audit project accounts for adherence to policy and communicate with appropriate parties regarding project status.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management. This is an entry-level professional accounting position requiring a well-grounded knowledge of financial and accounting theory. Employment requires being an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Cristo of Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend.
• Experience: No post-graduate professional accounting experience is required for this position.
• Skills: Demonstrated courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in daily working relationships, including contacts to request or provide information. Ability to apply theoretical accounting knowledge to Church systems, policies, and procedures. Capable of making appropriate decisions using generally accepted accounting principles regarding transactions.
• Bonus: A knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
