The Tone:
This is an internship at Forvis Mazars, located in Waco, TX. Forvis Mazars is a global professional services network with over 7,000 team members across the United States, providing assurance, tax, and consulting services to clients in various industries. This role offers valuable practical experience in public accounting, allowing individuals to develop technical skills, contribute to client engagements, and explore a potential career path in audit or tax within a supportive environment. The internship is designed to expose students to real-world scenarios and mentorship.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time or Full-time, Winter semester (early-January through April 15th)
• Location: In-person, Waco, TX

• Team: Collaborates with senior staff, management personnel, partners, and managers.
• Mission: To support audit engagements by completing testing, reconciling accounts, analyzing data, and contributing to reporting, providing critical financial insights to clients.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Testing: Complete audit testing on financial statement accounts such as cash, accounts payable, or fixed assets.
• Client Collaboration: Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data.
• Report Drafting: Help to draft management letter comments and the audit report.
• Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Intern candidates must be pursuing a degree towards CPA Exam eligibility, demonstrating satisfactory academic performance in major-related coursework, with a minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0.
• Experience: No prior professional experience explicitly required; focus on academic preparation and readiness to apply technical knowledge.
• Skills: Solid technical accounting knowledge, effective time management, strong oral and written communication skills, close attention to detail, ability to work well with a team as well as independently.
• Bonus: Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite; reliable transportation to the assigned office and the ability to attend off-site meetings and events in person. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available.
