Accounting Clerk (Hybrid) | Johnson Controls

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Johnson Controls, a company operating in industrial settings. As an Accounting Clerk, you will perform essential general accounting functions, support the purchasing department, and participate in audits, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. This position is vital for maintaining financial integrity, supporting various departmental needs, and contributing to the smooth administration of the organization.

• Mission: To ensure accurate financial record-keeping, streamline procurement processes, and provide comprehensive administrative support across all departments.
• Tech Stack: Solomon accounting software, Excel, ERP purchasing module, Word, Outlook

What You’ll Actually Do
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management: Process all accounts payable and receivable transactions, including auditing vendor bills for accuracy, processing payments using Solomon software and Excel, and maintaining accurate vendor and customer payment files.
Financial Planning & Reporting Assistance: Support the VP Finance and Controller in planning, budgeting, forecasting operational results, reconciling G/L accounts, posting monthly accruals, and assisting with the monthly financial close process.
Procurement & Supplier Relations: Manage purchase requests by entering them into the ERP system, maintaining vendor master records, verifying item pricing, communicating purchase orders, and resolving delivery or invoice discrepancies with suppliers.
Audit & Compliance Support: Aid the VP Finance and Controller in participating in internal audits, conducting inventory control, maintaining sales-tax exemption certificates, and preparing critical materials for Board and Audit Committee meetings.
Office & Administrative Coordination: Deliver comprehensive administrative support including professional reception duties, managing incoming and outgoing mail, organizing company meetings and events, ordering office supplies, and maintaining the President’s calendar.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional with a minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent, possessing a basic understanding of accounting principles and prior experience in an office environment.
• Experience: Proficiency in computer software products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, strong problem-solving abilities, highly organized and detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing tasks effectively while exhibiting unwavering integrity.
• Bonus: Prior experience utilizing ERP systems.
