What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Operations: Perform duties supporting the Finance Department, including a review of accounts payable and payroll, coordinating vendor accounts, and processing employee loan and reimbursement programs.
• Ledger and Reconciliations: Prepare and adjust journal entries to the general ledger, reconcile general ledger accounts with subsidiary ledgers and bank accounts, and upload financial information to ensure accuracy.
• Reporting and Compliance: Compile regular monthly and annual financial statements, prepare statistical and special reports, and create schedules for tax remittances and federal/state regulatory agencies to satisfy reporting requirements.
• Asset Management and Research: Maintain the computerized fixed asset accounting system by entering new purchases and dispositions, reconciling it to the general ledger, and performing requested financial research projects.
• Audit and Departmental Support: Assist external auditors during annual audits, including the preparation of financial statements and supporting work paper files, and provide technical accounting assistance to other City departments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform complex mathematical computations and financial analysis, strong capabilities in researching, compiling, and analyzing data, and competence in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include at least one year of relevant work experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business, a commitment to completing the required Bachelor’s Degree within one year, and possession of a Valid Florida Class E driver’s license.
