General Ledger Accountant | Redwood Materials

This is an early career General Ledger Accountant role at Redwood Materials. The company, founded in 2017, is pioneering a global battery supply chain by localizing recovery, reuse, and recycling efforts in the U.S., focusing on keeping critical minerals in circulation and delivering low-cost, large-scale energy storage solutions from existing batteries. This position is fundamental to the company’s financial health and operational integrity, offering a hands-on opportunity to manage the full accounting cycle, contribute to financial reporting, and support internal controls within a rapidly expanding global organization. • Mission: Owns the support of the general ledger accounting function, contributing to month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls for a global organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Month-End Close Support: Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with financial statement preparation to support the timely completion of the month-end close process.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger system by accurately posting journal entries and ensuring the precision of all account balances.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare financial reports and analysis, including variance analysis and trend identification to provide clear insights into financial performance.
• Intercompany Transaction Management: Process intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany balances, working to resolve any discrepancies that arise.
• Internal Controls & Efficiency: Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls over the general ledger process, actively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency across the function.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level General Ledger Accountant role requiring a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience: Requires 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in accounting and financial reporting.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is essential, alongside strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are also necessary for effective teamwork.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include previous internship or co-op experience in accounting or finance, and a genuine commitment to sustainability and making a positive global impact.
