Staff Accountant | COPE Health Solutions

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at COPE Health Solutions, located in Los Angeles, CA. COPE Health Solutions provides clients with the essential tools, services, and advice they need to be leaders in the healthcare industry, transforming health systems from fragmented fee-for-service to coordinated, financially sustainable population health management systems. This role presents a unique opportunity for a driven, junior-level accountant to own projects and proactively identify areas for improvement within the accounting function. The Staff Accountant will gain experience across a wide range of accounting and finance operations, quickly mastering new concepts and processes, and taking ownership of core operational areas while handling confidential information with excellent judgment.

• Mission: Own core accounting processes, including invoicing and reconciliations, and contribute to continuous improvement of financial operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Receivable: Manage the invoicing and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely billing, collections, and account maintenance.
• Reconciliations: Prepare monthly reconciliations for all bank and credit card accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• General Ledger: Prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper support for balances, and prepare monthly journal entries for review.
• Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly and annual state tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable deadlines and requirements.
• Process Improvement: Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and workflows designed to improve operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, strengthen internal controls, and streamline accounting processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: B.A. or B.S. degree required, with a preference for Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Experience: 2-3 years of corporate accounting experience, including account analysis and reconciliation (including bank statements), and general ledger review with journal entry preparation. Proficiency with Sage Intacct Enterprise Solutions or similar programs is required.
• Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills with a professional, business-oriented style. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, detail-driven, and able to prioritize workflow and manage projects independently while handling multiple projects on various timelines. Strong analytical thinking skills and a dedicated work ethic are essential.
• Bonus: Preference given to candidates pursuing a finance or accounting related master’s degree, MBA or CPA certification.
