What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Close: Manage the full cycle of revenue close procedures, performing monthly, quarterly, and annual activities from journal entry preparation to financial report generation and reconciliation.
• Contract Management: Set up new contracts within the accounting system, ensuring all associated cost elements are accurately captured and recognized.
• Compliance & Risk: Verify contract terms for adherence to revenue recognition principles and proper billing procedures, including performing risk assessments to determine potential business risks.
• Revenue Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of revenue variables to determine their impact on recognition timing and methodology, and scrutinize financial transactions to ensure precise and compliant reporting.
• Audit & Support: Provide comprehensive documentation and support for year-end audit requests and assist with the processing of contract change orders, modifications, and final closures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting. This is an entry-level position focused on core accounting principles.
• Experience: Demonstrated understanding and practical experience with contract setup processes is essential. Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions like v-lookups and pivot tables, is also a key requirement for this role.
• Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication abilities are necessary for clear reporting and collaboration. A proven capacity to meet strict deadlines and ensure timely completion of responsibilities is critical. Strong analytical skills for assessing revenue variables and their financial impact are also required.
• Bonus: Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards is considered a significant advantage.
