Operations Management Trainee | Ryder System, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time Management Trainee position at Ryder System, Inc., located in Burnsville, MN. • Mission: Learn to manage a heavy-duty truck repair shop and support business unit operations through cost savings, customer retention, and metric-based initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Relationship Management: Responsible for providing quality customer interface, proactive customer management, issue resolution, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Operational Coordination: Coordinate with the rental department to ensure maximum vehicle utilization without compromising lease customers, and partner with Sales staff on calls for new business and increased satisfaction.
• Cost and Maintenance Oversight: Manage running costs and maintenance overheads, ensuring policies and processes are followed to optimize these expenditures.
• Shop Operations Leadership: Accountable for coordinating with Maintenance, Asset Management, Sales, and Marketing to ensure customer satisfaction, accurate PM scheduling, vehicle status updates, and technician work planning for efficiency, training, and flexibility.
• Program Completion Requirement: Relocation within the business unit is required at the conclusion of the training program.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree, developing operations and fleet maintenance background.
• Experience: Strong PC knowledge and skills, including advanced use of spreadsheet and word processing software packages.
• Skills: Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices, strong verbal and written communication skills, strong mechanical skills, and a basic understanding of Business Finance, controls, and metrics.
• Bonus: 1 year or more in customer service with issues resolution experience.
